Volunteer Opportunities in bklyn and queens with NY Cares in June

REVITALIZE MCINTOSH GARDEN 25-16 McIntosh St. East Elmhurst, NY 11369 (Queens) SAT.  JUNE 15 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM  11 SPOTS

Plant, weed, clean, prepare beds, amend soil and compost at this 35-year-old community garden, which has a bounty of veggies, herbs, fruit trees, flowers, flowering trees & shrubs.Volunteers will also assist with clean-up and maintenance of garden's raised beds, street tree pits, & structures (gazebo) as needed. This project is recommended for both new and experienced gardeners.

Provide much needed support for our public libraries. Sort Children's sections, shelve books, prepare reserve items, weed out old circulations and other general library assistance. All volunteers must be comfortable with alphabetization, bending, stretching, and light lifting. All volunteers new to BPL will need to complete a basic volunteer application on site the front desk.

Volunteers will set up an LI Cares table outside the store, hand out lists of our most-needed items to customers as they enter the store, and collect donations as they leave. 6 volunteers needed per shift. LONG ISLAND CARES NEEDS YOUR HELP WITH OUR SUMMER FOOD PROGRAM! MAKE A DIFFERENCE THIS SUMMER!

We need weekly volunteers to help distribute breakfast and lunch to children in need June 27th – August 31st . Morning and afternoon shifts will be available Monday-Saturday at the following locations: Brentwood, Central Islip, Coram, Lawrence, Patchogue, Riverhead, Shirley, and Wyandanch.

Volunteers must be 16 and older (under 18 must be accompanied by an adult). Training will be required of all volunteers, which will take place between June 10-21 (exact dates to be announced – morning, afternoon and evening trainings will be scheduled). If you are interested in volunteering, please email our volunteer coordinator at licvolunteer@licares.org, with your name, email, phone number, town you reside in, and age if under 18. We will then email you with the locations/days available.

Group Volunteer in Warehouse in Hauppauge with Long Island Cares we can organize a day for nacli

Groups of up to 15 people can volunteer to sort and pack food for distribution. We schedule groups weekdays from either 10:00-12:00 (except Wednesdays) or 1:00-3:00. This is an ongoing event to schedule as needed. If you are interested, or have any questions, please let NACLI know.
